Lex & 3rd Unity Project (L3UP)

The Lex & 3rd Block Association (L3BA), founded in 2022, is dedicated to serving the East Harlem community through grassroots action and local advocacy. To expand our impact and secure the resources our neighborhood deserves, we have partnered with the Lex & 3rd Unity Project (L3UP), a newly established nonprofit organization [501(c)(3) status pending].

A Professional Framework for East Harlem L3UP serves as the coordinating entity and fiduciary framework for our community’s most significant initiatives. While L3BA continues its vital work as a volunteer-led neighborhood group, L3UP provides the professional administrative foundation required for large-scale projects. This includes:

• Grant Management: L3UP directly pursues and manages grants for neighborhood revitalisation, environmental stewardship, and cultural programs.

• Fiduciary Oversight: L3UP ensures that all funds are managed with complete transparency and in strict compliance with nonprofit regulatory standards.

• Project Direction: L3UP provides the oversight needed to move neighborhood ideas from the planning stage to successful completion.

Unified for Our Neighborhood This partnership allows L3BA to focus on its "boots on the ground" mission—organizing neighbors, hosting events, and advocating for our blocks—while L3UP handles the complex administrative and financial requirements of a professional nonprofit. Together, we are building a more resilient, beautiful, and unified East Harlem.
