Inclement Weather Policy

Light Rain: The event will proceed as scheduled.

Heavy Rain or Extreme Cold: The event will be canceled.

Rescheduling: While there is no official rain date, If inclement weather stops us, we will return soon, likely the following month. We aim for monthly stewardship and usually only pause due to poor weather conditions.

Community Service Certification

Upon request, we will provide volunteers with email confirmation of their community service hours. This digital verification can be used for schools and organizations. 

Collaborations, Youth, and Accessibility

We welcome collaboration. Partner organizations must ensure that their own staff and adult guardians actively engage, listen, and maintain supervision of their group members. Passive chaperoning is not permitted; adult guardians must remain fully engaged alongside the participant.

Youth Volunteer Guidelines

• Ages 5 to 14: Must be accompanied by an active adult supervisor at all times. Passive chaperoning is not permitted; adults must remain fully engaged alongside the participant.

• Ages 15 and Up: May volunteer independently, provided they have parental permission.

• Younger Children: Children under 5 are welcome on-site with their families but must remain under strict, continuous adult supervision (such as in a stroller or held) and are not active volunteer participants.

• Group Supervision Ratio: For schools, clubs, or partner organizations bringing youth groups, a minimum of one active adult supervisor is required for every five youth volunteers. Partner organizations must ensure their staff or guardians maintain this ratio and remain fully engaged.

Accessibility and Support

We welcome people with disabilities to our volunteer events. For individuals who require/benefit from a personal guardian or chaperone, that guardian must remain fully engaged and actively supervise their charge. Guardians cannot sit by passively with the expectation that other volunteers will step up, as our team members do not have the specialized training to do so and must focus on their own volunteer efforts. Passive chaperoning is not permitted; guardians must remain fully engaged alongside the participant.

Dress Code

Please dress appropriately for cleaning and gardening. Sturdy shoes etc. Wear a wardrobe you don't mind getting dirty. We suggest dressing in layers so you can adjust if you get hot or cold. We provide gloves but feel free to bring your own.

By volunteering, you agree that you are working at your own risk. You release Lex & 3rd Block Association from any liability for any accidents or injuries.

Photo Release: I grant the Lex & 3rd Block Association (L3BA) the right to use photographs or video recordings taken of me during volunteer activities for use on the association website, social media, or other materials related to our community beautification missions. Your participation serves as your signature and agreement to these terms.

Safety and Liability Waiver I, the Participant or parent/guardian of the Participant, ACKNOWLEDGE that the Participant's choice to participate in Volunteering with the Lex & 3rd Block Association (L3BA) is knowing, voluntary, and made for their personal enjoyment. I hereby certify that the Participant is physically fit and capable of participating in this volunteer event and that they do not suffer from any condition, sickness or disease that would impair their ability to participate in volunteering or that presents any danger to their well being as the result of such participation. I assume all the foregoing risks and fully accept personal responsibility for all expenses, medical or otherwise, following any such damages, injury, permanent disability or death. I RELEASE and DISCHARGE the Lex & 3rd Block Association aka L3BA and its directors, officers, members, employees, agents, successors and assigns, from and waive any and all liability to myself, heirs and next of kin or any other person, for any and all claims, demands, losses, or damages, including death or damage to property, which, in whole or in part, arise from, relate to or are alleged to arise from or relate to the volunteering with L3BA, any and all related events and activities in which the Participant takes part. I recognize that the Participant has an important personal obligation to conduct themselves in a manner compatible with local laws and regulations, and will abide by all such laws, regulations, standards and policies and promise to act responsibly and with respect for persons and property. * I agree to terms of the safety and liability waiver (for myself and for all minors for whom I am registering at this time). Your participation serves as your signature and agreement to these terms.
